I have only ever considered full face helmets as the only choice for my head. However, after sitting in Atlanta traffic yesterday BAKING on my bike (and it's not even warm yet), an open face helm is looking a little more appealing.

 

I have a half and a nice 3/4's helmet. The 3/4 helmet looks like a full, so it's pretty cool. The brand is a Nolan. When I'm just out cruisin', I use the half, but any long distance traveling or adverse weather it's the 3/4.

 

I currently have FF and 3/4

 

I only recently switched after buying a Bluetooth full-face. DANG! It's like being Iron Man! The Spouse has one as well and the intercomm is sa-weeeeeet on the highway! Even at 70mph I can talk on the phone and no one can even tell!

 

9 years ago, when this thread was made, I wasn't wearing a helmet.

But I wear a 3/4 and always have and will.

 

Since I started street riding @ 16 always FF. Last August when I bought the HD I got 1/2 W/$500 they "gave" me for buying new. I tried it W/ear plugs. Just don't feel comfortable all the wind on my face,around my glasses & noise. I recently bought SENA SMH5 for listening to iphone itunes, my wife called me 1st time out W/it she said it was clear couldn't hear bike or wind! Ram Mount works great too!
I have the Shoei RF1200 from my CBR days GREAT helmet worth every $$$$$ as far as I 'm concerned!

 

There wasn't an option for me. I own a half helmet, a 3/4 helmet, a modular full face and a full face.

I switch out based on the weather, the ride and my mood.

 

I went to a half helmet when I went from a sport bike to a Honda VTX. Did it for image at the time, but now honestly enjoy riding the bike a whole lot more because of it.

 

If you have a $5 head... wear a $5 helmet .....

 

If it's warm, I wear a half ...cold, then the 3/4 helmet gets a chance to get in the wind
