I'm currently working in a state that does not require helmets. So, sometimes I ride with no helmet (unless you count a doo rag). However, riding there in cold weather, I use a full face modular.
My home state however (where I go every weekend) does have a helmet law. So, I have 1/2 DOT approved helmet, 3/4 novelty helmet, and the full face modular for riding there.

I've got a HD carbon fiber DOT half helmet and my new one is a non-DOT extended half from ACC http://www.carbonfiberhelmets.com/ that I just love.

Do you ever ride with the chin bar flipped up and how has that been regarding turbulence, noise etc. Is the overall comfort, hearing and visibility still good in up position also?

I wear the, as this thread cals it "half helmet. I lose the lid when in the states if allowed by law. When late Oct and Nov hit I'll wear my wifes helmet cause it has the zip on ear warmers. I might look stupid but it make the ride more comfy when morning temps are below freezing.

Dangerous? tear the whole face off? Exactly how am I going to manage that? If the chin bar is up and Im in an accident, the chin bar first isnt going to do any thing to protect my face and second, if its ripped off in an accident, thats the least of my concerns. Still safer than being without one in my honest opinion.....Most of the time I only flip it up when I am stopped.....I'll check into what you said.... MDH My half was a XL and the Stealth is a XXL....

Everything I have read and seen regarding riding with the chin bar up is NOT RECOMMENDED. It's considered dangerous, and can even tear the whole face off of the helmet.
