Manual, what manual? I had a nice leather-bound cover (came out of an Ultra) that I got 'free' from the dealer when I bought the '06 Electra-Glide. Bout the only time I look at the manual is when the time changes (lol). Well, would you believe someone STOLE my manual out of the tour box......had to buy another one. Just watched the DVD that came with the bike last week...been a couple years! I still don't know everything

I always read the manual. then refer to it when I do my own services. I also get the service manual.

I read over the important parts. Counting the warnings takes my riding time. And just a bit obsessive.

With my recent upgrade from a 1983 FL to a 1998 Ultra I read it and the shop manual like it was my job. The cheesy glued backing of the shop manual isn't very encouraging. While the bikes have improved from 1983 the way the shop manual is constructed has not. Its twice the size of the 1983 shop manual too.

The improvments since 1983 is ginormous. Not feeling warm and fuzzy about the EFI. So many parts to replace a block of alluminum with holes drilled in it? [sm=wtf.gif]The electronic **** pit is like I think a space ship would look with handfulls of multi use buttons on both handlebars. I am trying to be optimistic and hope that I can be dragged kicking and screaming into the technology of today (even thoughthe bike is10 years old by today standards). Love the electronic cruise, the music and integrated CB and helmet to helmet communications. I am taking it slow learning each feature one at a time. Next on the list is the CB/intercom system.

Oh and I get a sense that while my 1983 is very self mechanical friendly the 1998 may not be with all the computerized happenings going on.

I think I read the owner's manual once and couldn't find where it told you how to change the oil or other maintenance tasks. . I found the owner's manual pretty worthless.

You don't think it has good worthy entry level info like where all tha various equipment is and what it does? Not so much for someone that's been on a bike most of there grown life but for a new rider?

Its obviously not a service manual, but it's pretty short and does have some fundamental stuff in there. Why not read it?
