It seems to me that if an oil was properly blended, no "additivie" or "stabilizer" would be necessary to be added as well.

I will be the first to admit that I am anything but savvy about oil. I've been seeing the Lucas oil stabilizer for years and always wondered how good it was. The shop always had one of those little gear things where you turn the wheel and see how much smoother it is to turn and watch the oil cling.

I bought this stuff because they had the motorcycle oil and I figured that I'd throw the stabilizer in to see if things did quiet down. For all I know it would have been quiet with straight 20w50.

I was wondering if you were refering to their regular synthic oil or their specialized motorcycle synthetic. I think it would be OK to run their regular synthetic in the motor but you would need to run the motorcycle synthetic in the Primary. Has something to to with the effect of Molybendium? on the clutch has a tendance to make it start slipping.

Looks like you found the motocycle variety. I personally have always beena fan of Lucas Oil. Many industiral mechanics are also fond of it so I am sure it is good stuff.

Ill be honest with you, after seeing what BOB the Oil Guy demonstrated, Im going to stay away from the additive, didnt like the whole air in the oil concept. No Thanks

I was was going to to put some in tonight, even bought it.But not sure now ,call me chicken!
I have to agree why mess with good oil (using Amsoil) and have to agree its just making the oil thicker like adding STP or 60 wt>
The stuff does seem pretty thick when I shake the bottle.
There is a reason why the motors are noisy.

They sell the oil stabilizer for diesel semi trucks and I've tried it once in each of my trucks and I just couldn't wait to get that junk out.
However I use the axle oil for my front axle hubs, works fantastic in keeping the bearings cool.
I wasn't aware that they made a motor oil, looks like I'm going to have to look into it.

I don't like additives for the simple fact that it couldthrow off the balance of additives already in your oil.

Basically all that's going on here is that the oil viscosity is being increased. Might as well use straight 60 weight.

. OR mix a quart of straight 50w in with your 20w50 and you will get the same result.
Maybe on cold starts. At operating temp 50 and 20w50 are the same visosity.

I changed oil today and went with Lucas synthetic 20w50 and supplemented that with Lucas Synthetic Oil stabilizer (20 ounces in the motor and 5 ounces in the tranny). My bike went from having a very audible top end tick, primary whine and clunky shifting to dead silent with smooth as butter shifting. I will never put another oil in my bike. AWESOME stuff!
Be careful with the sabilizer ... it is not needed and will cause cavitation in the oil. No stabilizer needed with modern oils. Check this out.
