Exhaust Issue goes to Court!!!
I received this as an ABATE update to the Delray Beach Noise Issue as regards several small municipalities along A1A, which runs North and South along a barrier Island system that contains these small communities. They have a history of attempting to block public access. It's a "Heads Up" for us all!!!Brothers and SistersYour Attention Please.Over the past few months four municipalities on A1A have been waging war on motorcyclists for after marketand loud pipes. From Highland Beach south of Delray Beach, Briny Breeze,Ocean Ridge and now Manalapan to the north in Palm Beach County. One of the first of three casesto receive a ticket for aftermarket pipeswas our Brother Raccoon Joe. He and a friend were sitting at a light in Ocean Ridge, when the light turned green they were immediately pulled overand given tickets for after market pipes. Please Note: Not loud pipes, after market pipes. There was no probable cause for the stop and no other reasongivenfor the $76.50 ticketother than the officer determined that his pipes were not stock and that they were illegal. Since then there have been well over a dozen or more cases where motorcyclists have been pulled over and given tickets, three ridersthat I personally have received callsfromwere riding new bikes with stock exhaust systems, including one with a police model Road King with the exact same exhaust system as all police bikes have. These bikes have a computer chip installed by the manufacturer preventing them from performing with any other exhaust system. On SaturdayApril 12th ABATE P.B.C. had a booth at "Delray Beach's Safety Day". In talking with Papa Bear our V.P. and Safety Director,I was toldhewas approached by six people that had received tickets on A1A for loud or after market pipes that day alone. The efforts to keep motorcycles off of A1A by these municipalitieshas clearly escalated. We have advised all motorcyclists that have received tickets to submit a form (available on our web sitehttp://www.abatepalmbeach.com/images/INFRACTION_not_guilty_demand_JUDGE_FORM.pdfwith their ticket requesting that their case go before a judge with a plea of not guilty. A tactical move to flood the judges docket making him aware of how many of theseillegal stops are being made. One casehas already gonebefore amagistrateand was thrown out. The problem with that is, the judge probably wont know how many of these illegal stops are being made if they are thrown out beforethey get to him. It's time to take action. Raccoon's case will be the firstto gobefore a judge Friday April 25th 09:30 at the courthouse in Delray Bch. 200N.W.
