I have one, and agree with the others. It is the ideal compromise between a solid fullface, and an open face helmet. A touch noisier at highway speeds than a solid fullface, but still a "nice to have". I have an HJC myself. I generally only use it during colder or inclement weather riding, but am glad I have the option.

Recntly I upgraded from a 30 yo Beanie to a Nolan 102. Took awhle to get use to. I felt claustrophic for a few weeks until I got use to it. I had to ride with it up for a few days then gradually was able to ride with it down. I still keep the glass frony open unless its really cold. I will say the102 lets me start riding sooner in the season and ride longer into the season.

Its currently at the artist shop getting a flaming stars n bars painted/air brushedon it. Its black so should come out decent.

Weigh all the factors for yourself, and get the safest helmet you can buy, for how you ride.
No mentioned so far is that the flip up puts that weight in an odd position for your neck, so if helmet weight is an issue, flip up really complicates it, even more with the wind if you try to ride with it up as some do. So add that to the fact it's not as save as a full face, but blocks your sound and side vision just as well, and personal choice (what your used to in being safe) becomes what is really safe. There's a trade off between better avoidance and better protection.

I have one with a flip down shade like a fighter pilot has, it is a quiet helmet and has at least all the benifits listed.

Yup. One of the helmets I use is a HJC CL-Max. I'm pretty happy with it.

I'm one of those wierd demented Harley riders who wears a helmet all the time. I wear a Nolan 100. Very comfortable, light weight. Fits me just right. I like the ability to put the helmet on and take it off without removing my glasses. When I stop for gas and a drink I don't have to take it off. I used to have a standard full face. I think the Nolan might be a little quieter.I'll never go back to a standard full face.
