I do several trips from Mass to Maine and like the windshield. Around town is ok to go without it, but on the highway, I think it is necessary.

 

The reason I will not ride without a shield.... One of these 1.5 inch suckers took me off a bike at 60 coming back from Big Bear one night.... two black eyes, busted glasses and one hell of a goose egg right tween the eyes....

Use it. I never take mine off

 

Take it and use it, you wont feel beat to death upon arrival at your destination, and as has been said a lot of rocks, dirt, bugs and tire pieces will glance off that windshield and not you.
