NORTH CAROLINA SPEEDING TICKET
Anyone have any idea how much speeding tickets and court cost in North Carolina are. My wife got a speeding ticket on I-95 for doing 84 in a 70. Ticket does not give any info except for mandatory court date. No other info at all. Any one got any idea how they work there in North Carolina where here in Jersey and have no idea.

Can you say screwed.........
Mandatory court is never good. And if you fail to appear or cooperate, if NJ is a reciprocating state they will suspend your driving priviledges in Jersey.
PITA.
Hope I am wrong. I travel that routeoften and its so easy to exceed 70MPH. The roads are straight, not crowdedand begging you to drive faster. Especially since Virginia is 55 MPH in places. Easy mistake to make.
You may want to consider getting a local lawyer from the area. Do a little research first. Throwing oneself at the mercy of the courts is like playing Russian roulette with a loaded hand gun. The money you spend for a lawyer may save you the long reaching financial impact of increased points on yur license and insurance rates.
Damn speeding tickets!

Usually a local lawyer will cost about 250 based on your infraction and a fairly clear driving record. You normally will not need to show up. That generally cover everything including the fine and court cost.

Get a local NC lawyer. NC will allow your lawyer to appear for you. Got one a few years back, 74 in 55.Lawyer was 250, fine and court costs would have been somewhere around 175, Dismissed within a week. You will notice a common element of '14' mph over the limit, 15+ may result in license suspension. LEO may have done you a favor and knocked a few off the speed. What city/ county was she in?

Get prepaid legal insurance. They fight stuff like that and get it taken off your record.

There should be an addressfor the courthouse anda phone number for the clerks officeon the back of the ticket. Ususally theyll tell you what the fine will be even if court appearance is mandatory
