Yah, that was a DX you were looking at. Drag bars and forward controls never made sense to me. We do a lot of long rides on our D. Sundowner makes all the difference.

He means it takes about another $10K to get a Fat Bob to keep up with a stock V-rod. The highest posted speed limit I've seen posted in the US lately is 85mph. I'm sure all the aircooled bikes can keep up with a V-rod on the Interstate. [sm=devilgrin.gif]
Like I said before, it's your bike enjoy itand it doesn't matter what Monk or I happen to think. (Make sure you have a Nomex jacket just in case we pass you!!)

LOL
I see... A little tongue in cheek humor from the V-rod crew who have been watching this post! I'll just sit back and wait to hear hear from the other Bob owners on the subject. Seriously though yea - I didn't purchase for speed (I'm 50 - not that makes a difference to some). I bought mostly on looks AND the recommendations from the mechanics and floor crew at the back of the dealership. OH YEA - they chimed in BIG TIME when the sales guy stepped away for a moment. In fact, I would say that along with the looks of the bike, they pretty much made that sale. The sales guy even made a comment after the sale to say he normally doesn't try to sway buyers away from any bike of interest (because I was seriously ready to buy V-rod)- that he would have made the same choice...

RE: Fat Bob or Night Rod?
I'm 48 and my wife is...well...not 48. We bought ours as a two-up cruiser because out of every bike we could find in a really long search, the Night Rod suited us best. To be honest for about the first month the bike scared the hell out of me. When you grab throttle in second gear the front end either gets very light or actually lifts a little. I'm not sure which. I haven't tried to see what the front wheel is doing.
Anyway, hope to meet you somewhere down the road. My bike is easy to spot. It's the only V-rod with a tall sissy bar.
