Default heritage or elecraglide???

I currently ride a 1200 custom sportster and I am a weigh 280 my wife is 140 to 150 and when we both ride there just isnt enough suspension.
I really like the heritage softail but have been told that it dosent have enough suspension for me and the wife, even when I had dropped to 220 lbs the salesman said the same thing.
e says I need a road king or electraglide or street glide.
I test rode a 2005 elecraglide classic today with vance and hines true duals and a stage 1 download I beleive he said it had.
Both tires are new and it has 23000 on it.
The owner said he would pay my bike off 2005 1200 custom with windshield, backrest, rear cargo shelf, lowered front turn signals and sundowner seat, with 7600 miles then I would buy the electraglide for 15.900

So the question is 1) is this a good price for the glide? Bike looks new and rides the same
2) is that a good deal to just pay mine off? owe 6656
3) whats your opinions on the heritage softail and what he has told me? and Ive had a couple other dealers tell me the same thing.

Thanks for your opinions!

With those figures you would be paying $22,556 for a 2005 bike with 23,000 miles on it. I don't know for surebut I think you could do better than that, a lot better. What's a new plain jain Electra Glide list for? If I'm not mistaken, I don't think it is not much more than that. I think you'd be better off selling yours outright and then buying a new one.

I forgot to mention that 15999 is tax tags and title included.
They have an 08 electraglide standard that they have installed the stereo and a quick release backrest for 19 and some change out the door

I have a '06 Road King and a '08 Heritage. I like them both but I don't weigh as much as you. The Heritage has adjustible shocks also and I don't believe it won't take you and your passanger. The Road King, which is a stripped Electra Glide, has adjustible air shocks. It does seem as though the Touring bike would handle the weight better though because it has more suspension travel. You don't say what year your Sportster is but you should do what I'm currently doing with my Sportster. Sell it yourself and then buy a new bike. And it doesn't sound like the price of the used bike you're buying is much of a bargain to me. Sell your Sporster and take your time looking for a better deal.

You always take it in the rear when you do trades like that.....sell your sporty and buy a EG streight out....
I could sell my 01 EG clasic for 13 grand(maybe a tad more)and it only has 2300 miles on it......I have 2 other bikes so it dosnt get much road time....

I wont sell it but there are deals out there....

I would like to be able to buy it straight out and beleive if i could they would give me a better price, or even pay cash i think they would deal even more.

I had an '05 Electra Glide Standard and just traded it in today on an 08 Ultra. I would have sold mine for 12,500 and it had 18,000 miles on it. They made me an excellent deal on a trade. I had mine advertised for 13,250 and had no response to that at all. I think they are asking too much for that bike.

+1 on it seeming too much. You would love an EG, though.
