Harley no longer selling Screaming Eagle Exhaust

I read this on another site , seems to put a little more teeth in the exsisting epa rules on performance upgrades.

"...One of the things discussed was that the Government in a misguided effort to control emissions on motorcycles basically forced Harley to discontinue "race application" performance exhaust that can be bolted on to a street bike. The dealer hosting the seminar stated that after May 31st of 2006 they will no longer be able to get SE mufflers. So, if you are considering buying these you may want to get them soon. Also all models (touring and softail) with the exception of the Dyna family have a catalytic converter in the muffler. If you remove this stock exhaust and replace it with a non-catalytic after market exhaust, the fine is 10,000/day. Don't know if all this is true, just reporting what I was told. They recommend you keep the original exhaust in case emissions testing becomes mandatory and you can just put them back on for the test. Good Grief-doesn't the Government have anything better to do than pick on us who provide such a small percentage of vehicle pollution as to be a joke compared to cars and diesel trucks. Anybody else know anything about this??"

RE: Exhaust
The government is picking on us but they should be looking at the car and trucks that go down the highway with a smoke screen of burning oil. I'm an ASE technician and I see all kinds of polution that is not stopped.

RE: Exhaust
Ya want to get a headache. Go to the epa site and read up on this EPA Stuff.
Vehicles that are manufactured in 2006 have to meet the EPA Regulations for emissions. Motorcycles can be modified providing that they do not exceed the Manufacturers Compliance specifications for emissions for that Vehicle.
You may modify a motorcycle to exceed the EPA specifications but that motorcycle will be legal for competition only. You must destroy the emissions certification label.
