Helicopter mechanics and Harley maintenance

Helicopter mechanics and Harley maintenance
I have realized over the years since I have been into bikes that after eight years of being a hydraulics and pneumatics mechanic on Army helicopters that my motorcycle mechanics have become just as ****. Tolerances for acft are so small and when I see a slight scratch or anything else that would red X a aircraft (down for mechanical repair reasons) on a bike component that I flip. Its good to be ****, but damn......I guess thats where the ride hard and fly hard concept come in. Got to be on top of things if your gonna play hard. Any other acft mechanics out there?

I'm still certified, but it's been a year since I worked. (bad wreck) I worked on the big heavies for a year & then switched to helicopters.

A&P/IA for the past 25 years. Started out on Kiowas and Guns, Cobras to be exact. Currently QC Inspector on AH-64D Apaches at Hanchey Army Airfield, Mother Rucker, AL. Worked on alot of other stuff between the Army and now, fixed and rotory wing.

Started my AF career out working on RF-4Cs & F-15s (Crewchief) ; HD tolerances are nowhere as strict as aviation (tactical fix-winged) can't comment on rotor-craft............

Spent 6 years as a 68X. 2 at Katterback GE and just over 3 on Bragg.Moved over to the Air Force, now at Pope. I agree, tolerances are tight, but I guess if your a$$ is on the line, no need to have duct tape holding it together.
