RE: Helmit Ticket +
Well, it basically boils down to that there are cool people who take pride in their work/professions, use commonsense and courtesy, continually improve themselves by constant training, are not condensending and arrogant, and are just generally decent people. True PROFFESIONALS. THEN there are the A$$HOLES who give the rest of their comrades a bad rep. Unfortunately some people never run into the opposites. Those who have always dealt with the A$$HOLES think that they're all like that, while the others who've had the pleasure of meeting nothing but the cream-of-the-crop folks think that they're all perfect. It doesn't matter what profession we're speaking of either. DMV clerks, cops, doctors, etc. When I did my military, LE, and Gov't stints, I could bring up examples of some of the finest people I ever met in my life, who without hesitation, I would lay EVERYTHING on the line for them. Then there were also some of the laziest, back-stabbing, butt-sucking, pieces of crap that I'm embarassed to say even live in the same world as we do consuming oxygen. But hey, even some of the A$$HOLES can have a good day once in a lifetime just as one of the decent people might actually have a bad one. I'll tell you all this though, to be aTRUE professional LEO, not in a "Good-'Ol -Boy situation, you have to have the right temperment and be able to put up with a lot of BULL$hit from the top, side, and bottom. I gave that route an honest 3 year "Event", and it was a pretty political section with everyone jockeying for advancement-duty-be-damned, and I decided I could make a LOT more money for a lot less BULL$HIT bustin' for Uncle Sugar doing Gov't "Contracting", and brother, I could lay on some seriously wild-n-crazy F'n stories about how some of those tax dollars got spent in the name of National Defense. So, getting back to the discussion here, if you are a TRUE PROFESSIONAL LEO, you have my respect as with any professional who acts accordingly. If you're an A$$HOLE who plies the A$$HOLE trade of using position or power, etc, (And uses a Union as a shield to cover your sorry A$$.) you are an at the bottom of the list of humanity. Goodnight now all you "Civilians", oh and allright G'Damn it, you LEOs too![sm=deal.gif]

Mainstream America does appreciate the police. Mainstream America is not represented on this forum.

And you would describe your own "attitude"how? What, exactly, have I said that would lead you to believe that I'm a bully? Or worse yet, corrupt?

I respect the LEOs that actually abide by the laws that they are sworn to enforce. Just want to get that out of the way. However, there are a couple of commentsI'd like to make.#1 I believe you stated that the "mainstream" america does not have the same perception of LEOs as the members of this forum do. If that is true, then explain to me why the "mainstream" population in the Metro area makes damn sure to check their speed when they enter your jurisdiction? I'll tell you - it's because your jurisdiction is known"in the mainstream" as being a little "over zealous" shall we say. #2 Just the other day,two of your brethern cite a young lady for dui. Reports state that the LEOs witnessed her driving into gas station.Young lady acquiredsurveilance tape from station which showed the cops were lying as video showed great big boyfriend driving into station. Never saw a case dismissed so fast. Another LEO stops a kid for failing to signal 100' before reaching corner and uses that stop as probable cause to search his car. Fact is that the kid was parked in front of friend's house which was only 50' from corner. WTF? Are these anomolies? No! They areeveryday occurrences withsome LEOs. Another guy is being interogated and during the reading of his Miranda rights, the guy asks for a lawyer. The LEO just blows him off and says that he has to get through the advisory. Guy asks for lawyer numerous times and LEOs ignore request. Guy was in interrogation room for over three hours. So, the fact is that "mainstream" America is no different than the microcosm of America that is represented here. As a matter of fact, what is that "mainstream" comment about anyway? Are you implying that Harley riders are not "mainstream"or that only folks who have had no contact with LEOs are "mainstream?"
Do not take this personally as I do ride South of Harrison Streeton occassion and would like to get there and back without incident [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

I don't take it personally, don't worry! I don't know anything about the cases you're referring to so I can't comment, nor would I. Not appropriate at all. If the people in question want to file a complaint I can take it myself or I can refer them to someone above me. Send me a PM. Mistakes are made, cops are human. If this was anything more than a mistake then someone should be looking at it closely. I'd be interested to know what you're talking about though.
When I said mainstream I was quoting another poster. I do not think that the general public is nearly as anti-police, or at least they aren't as vocal about it, as mainstream HDF!! I can't believe the way cops are continually attacked on here and it's always the same thing. Some big city cop didn't have time for me, or some small town Barney Fife targeted me, or some fat donut eating slob wronged my best friends cousins sister so, by association, all cops are criminals.
It just ain't so my friend. Not on my department, not an any department I've ever worked with in the midwest. MOST cops genuinely try to do right by the people they meet every day. We are sworn to uphold laws, to include traffic laws. NOBODY likes tickets, we understand that. Most of us, myself included, have had our fair share. But I haven't been stopped in my own cars or bikes in over 20 years, driving the same streets everyone else drives. Why not? Because I don't"break every traffic law" likeI'm constantly accused of doing here. The **** just gets old, ya know?
