Guardian bell
Mine hangs low on the left side of my bike. I've had it on for years. My wife use to have one too.....until she hit a deer near Wisconsin a couple of years ago. I nearly lost her. She doesn't ride anymore. Still, I'm a little bit supersticious so I'll try anything that might improve the odds.

I like the positive message in the Guardian Bell tradition, but folks are now confusing it with the more solemn brass bell tradition.
A pewter bell mounted low on the frame is a Guardian bell.
A brass bell on the swing arm is a remembrance bell. It's to show respect for a fallen biker. You think about your friend and keep the memories fresh as you polish corrosion from bell to keep it bright. On the swing arm so it is constantly ringing, hopefully keeping you vigilant in avoiding your own demise.

I have one with a gargoyle on it. It is hanging from my right floorboard mount. After numerous break downs and being towed back to the dealer. I was out of town in Atlanta for the 100th Annv Kick off party. My Bike broke down again. The group of friends I was with bought my bell. I have not had any problem since.........
