My neighbor, RK rider, came over yesterday and gave me a bell for my new RG. I didn't know about the history of this thing till I saw this thread.

In the early 70s, I had heard or read about a bell that is hung on the scooter to indicate the rider had seen the old light bulb in a firestation in California, I think it might be near SF. Anybody remember this one?

 

My cousin bought me a Law Enforcement bell when I rode to Phoenix to visit her. Glad I didnt crash before I got the bell.

I heard a jingle a couple of times as I rode my newly purchased (and first Harley) 1995 Ultra home. Then, as I pulled in the driveway, I heard it again. I figured that something might be a touch loose up front and resolve to go over everything and make certain all was well. What I discvoered was that there was a small brass bell laying against the inside of the LH fork, hung from the LH bottom side of the lower triple tree. "Hmmm..." I mused to myself, remembering something about having a bell for luck. I decided that I would allow it to remain and use it as a reminder to me to pay attention and ride safe.

 

Anyone interested in starting a thread dedicated to bell swapping?

Oh, BTW.. I need a new bell. I have several, but they are ones I bought.

I'm a pretty supersticious person, so yes I ride with a bell, has a little angel on the front!

 

I have 2 of them, one from my wife, and one from a good friend. They hang from the wire that is below the voltage regulator. No problems so far....

 

Had it tied on my triple-tree til the wife and I rode together heard it ding knew it was aginst the top of the front fender I stoped removed it and put it in the tour pack where it's been ever since

My Guardian Bell has a 100th Year Anniversary emblem on it. It has not been mounted yet, not sure where it should go.
