For me it's more of a 98% HD : 2% Metric ratio. I don't have many friends who ride metrics. And the friends that I have that ride metrics, I wouldn't ride with them.

I ride alone or with the wife on back, but not with other bikes unless we happen to be going the same direction. It's rare that I have a real plan on where I'm going except for a general direction. Even that's up for dispute when I come up on a road I don't know or haven't ridden for a while. I really like the feeling of going where I want, when I want, for how long I want, and I don't have to confer with anyone else. My wife doesn't care, she just likes the ride. I haven't done any cross-country riding, yet, but I can see where riding with people you trust could add to the enjoyment of the trip.

I'll ride with anyone. When I had the Valkyrie, I had a couple of Harley buddies that would ride with me. They didn't much care about riding side by side cause the Valk's flat 6 is about five feet wide.
Got an FXDC now and they still ride with me but IMHO I would just as soon ride alone. They like riding with the pack. I don't.

I only ride with those I know and can vouch for as an accomplished rider.
Lately,that seems to bethosewho happen to have Harleys.It dont really matter to me personally but many ricers seem to think that most Harley riders wont ride with them.Beings that I do in fact have a hog,we already have a common bond.
When ya rungrip to grip ,tire to tailight,at upwards of 70,you better damn sure trust the guy on your side.
Not many ring zings around that Id do that with.
Personallywhat ya ride dosent matter as much, as that you ride.
