Dave, sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. It is hard to deal with, but as long as her memories remain with you, she is still watching over you. Lost mine 32 years ago and still miss her. She never got to see her great-grand children. The pain gets tucked away deep in your mind. There to bring out when you need to find comfort.

I feel for you,lost mine a few years ago 10 months later lost my dad.It's a lonely feeling.
