Helmet catching wind

Helmet catching wind
I have a Skid Lid that I have been using for a couple years. It seams as if when I hit 60mph and above, I feel like I got a parasail strapped to my head. It is not terribly heavy, but above 60, I feel a lot of stress on my neck from the lift. Is this common of all half helmets? I do not want a full face. I don't know that I could do a long ride like that. I guess I could always get a wind shield.

RE: Helmet catching wind
Wife and I both have Skid Lids. No problems at all. Ours have been 'altered' slightly!
First time I used Stainless Steel spikes, almost broke our necks. These are
2 1/2 inch aluminum. No feeling at all at any speed. Do get a lot of 'thumbs
up' and little kids waving.

Well, your options are kind of limited.
On a long trip I will use a detachable windshield. May not look cool, but you will get more miles without getting too beat up.
If the temps are down, I will wear a full face helmet. It's a practical thing (don't care about the style police).
I also have a Half-Helmet with a shield that is kind of a compromise:

Otherwise, just spend some road time and get use to it.
Hope this helps.

Northwest Harley, Olympia, WA.
I'm sure you can get one cheaper elsewhere, but was not in the mood to order on-line and wait at the time.

Check the fit on your helmet, I had similar problems when my helmet was just a little loose from the padding packing down after time. A bandanna under the lid can help.

A couple things....
1. someone already mentioned fit...make sure you have the right size and that it is secured properly.
2. depends on how the it sits on your melon (some have it down low over their eyebrows and others have it up to their hairlines...or those that have them)
3. ...or a combination of the two.
I had a buddy who was having the same problem. I went for a ride with him and watched how he was seated on his bike. It seemed that he appeared to have his head thrown back (tryin to look tough) while riding, this caused this helmet to catch a lot of the wind. I suggested he ride with his head more level and this pretty much solved his problem.
Just throwin it out.....
