Excessive Heat
I was under the impression that the “fix” for excessive engine heat was automatically installed (or programmed) into 08 bikes, now I hear that this has to be activated by the dealer.
Is there some problem caused by or related to the fix?
Does anyone know of any reason why I should not have it activated?

Not sure what "fix" you're talking about. The '08 engine is the same as the '07 engine, no changes. If you're referring to the download that shuts down the spark to the rear cylinder, I'm not sure if the '08's come stock with it or not. Not much of a fix though, as I see it.

The only one I can think of is if it is not temperature regulated it would prevent the rear cylinder from warming up when the bike is first started. As I am about to go in for the 1,000 mile service I would like to have this system explained by someone who knows how this works before I have it activated.
