Anyone ride with carpal tunnel.....

RE: Anyone ride with carpal tunnel.....
Have a trigger finger on my clutch hand and two numb fingers on my brake hand. Right hand problems are from a herniated disc in nec (c3-c4).
I've taken so much steroids that the little guy has shrunk a lot.
I don't look forward to surgery but the frequent use of steroids has some nasty long term effects.

A bud of mine has severe ct and he really should get the operation IMO but what he did to the bike is he installed 16" apes and bought a mustang seat which lowered him and ad'l inch. This way here his hands are not going numb from leaning forward. Any pressure on his wrists his hands would go numb. Just my 0.2. He says it helps.

You should try a RECLUSE clutch, I put one it my wifes Sportster (she has arthoritisin her hands very bad) this clutch is a centrifical clutch that automaticaly disingauges at about a 1000 RPM's, so when you pull up to a light the bike just stops and you don't have to pull the clutch or hold it at a light.
When the light rurns greenjust hit thegas and the cltch ingauges and you take off, you still have to use the clutch to shift but it helps with the rest.

I used rekluse clutches when I raced dirt bikes. I didn't know they made them for Harley's. Depending on what the doc says Monday I mat have to look into that. thank for that idea!

I would wonder about the Doctor. Had both of my hands done last fall, several weeks later I was almost as good a new. Never regretted doing the surgery.
My CP was so bad that it was waking me up several times a night.

This is as to why I have been riding the last two years with CT.Results vary soooo much I guess a little lost feeling and slight falling asleep stuff I can deal with.Vitamin B6 daily and wrist braces at night have helped since the onset but not gotten much better in the last year and a half.I guess when it effects my ability to ride maybe I'll consider surgery.

I'm not doing anything out of the ordinary. I do spend alot of time on the computer at work/home but I wouldn't think it would make it come back this quick. Today they have hurt so bad that I'ld consider surgery again if it keeps up like this. I've got an appointment on Monday with the specialist but I think the only two options will be either cortizone injections or surgery. The injections worked last time for a while so I may try that first if the Doc is ok with it.

I had the cut on both hands years ago and still fine.Hopefully this will be the last cut for you. What are you doing to cause it to come back?

We did the anti-inflamitory drugs, and night splints, and ergo adjustments to my work (cake decorating left heanded[8D])... still ended up with the right wrist surgery, but we were able put it off for 8 years due to the non surgical treatments.
I still use ibuprofen, and a neoprene wrist support during long rides, but so far, the problem has not stopped the rides.
praying for your recovery, and continued riding,
LG

RE: Anyone ride with carpal tunnel.....
Just had surgery done 3 weeks ago for carpel tunnel, trigger finger, and a slight tear in the tendon and I already feel considerably better. The strength isn't back yet but I don't have the numbness, tingling ,or locking any longer(I hope never again). Hope you get it sorted out.
