midlife Crisis

RE: midlife Crisis
With every crisis thereis opportunity. Enjoy yours and look forward to many, many more.
I am 49, and when I bought my Triumph last year, first bike in 20 years, and took a six week solo trip through Baja, Mexico, and Guatemala, my friends, family and wife all thought I was completely crazy. (But they sure enjoyedliving vicariously through the Blog I posted daily).
Upon my return, I sold the Trumpet, (not enough room), and bought the '08 SG. My wife bought some chaps, and looks pretty damn hot,and is riding with me quite a bit.We are now planning an around the world trip within the next couple of years.Others are asking me how I drummed up the nerve to "get out of the box". Again, with every crisis comes opportunity...

RE: midlife Crisis
I haven't been on any bike for nearly 26 years...several reasons...three kids, house payment,etc...but I'm going to Charlotte this Friday to a demo day to try out some HD's. This summer, all that house and car payment stuff will be over, kids are grown, and I've waited long enough. Crisis or not...call it what you want...it's time to get back in the saddle.

RE: midlife Crisis
I married the girl that sat in front of me in high school. She was 18 and I was 19 when we got married. That was 36 years, three children, two grandkids, countless dogs, cats, turtles, rabbits, fish, bills, blood, sweat, tears, cars, trucks, motorcycles and crisis after crisis of the non-midlife kind.
After all of that and in spite of it all, I'm still here. I am the most blessed man on the face of this earth. And I'm thankful that I can afford to have a machine that offers me so much fun, relaxation and enjoyment. I'm thankful that the MOCO manufactures a variety of machines that offer me (and us) a chance to fullfill our desires for something different... something refreshing and something outside the box, so to speak. Something that, when I twist the throttle, the cares of the world seem to be swept away as I run through the gears.
I've had the "mid life" comments directed at me and I just brush them off. I had a Honda 500 4 cyl. and a Sporty in my garage when my firstborn came along. I did what I felt was the right thing to do at the time and sold them. I missed them but never regreted selling them. I vowed to my wife then that when the kids were raised, I'd like to get another bike. So I did.
I like what someone had to say early in this thread... "Just catching up". Well said... Very well said indeed.
