Red, it's funny you should say that about the visor. When I rolled out of the dealer after buying my bike, sporting my new shorty w/ visor, I made it about 1/4 mile before the wind caught it and ripped it off the helmet. I turned around to go get it off the road, and spotted it in the middle of the road. Before I could grab it, a semi rolled over it! Oh well, guess I didn't need it anyway!

To keep my shorty snug, I just crank the strap tight. Yeah, you notice the pull at highway speeds, but I can't bear putting a windshield on my bike.

ORIGINAL: Red

Are you trying to wear a visor? If so, get rid of it! To me a 3/4 helmet is easier to wear without a w/s. I don't do FF. LOL!!

Good Luck.......
Well and I have the opposite. I wear a 3/4 with visor and w/s and every thing is just fine. Go figure!

My " Harley " brand half helmet would slide right up my head , bought a 3/4 helmet and that stopped . Recently bought a Vega 1/2 helmet model XTS , it is DOT and has a visor although not as big as some . Although I wear an XL this helmet does not ride up at all and is one of maybe 2 dot helmets that don't give you mushroom head . The shell is slimmer in design and the styrofoam is barely 1' as per DOT requirements . Heres a link to one dealer that carries them at the cheapest prices ;

Good Luck , Dan

Take the visor off! That does the trick.

My helmet did exactly the same thing. I could crank it extra tight, and it helped a little, but at highway speed it still rode up. However, once the cold weather arrived I had to find something to keep my ears warm. I bought a very thin fleece cap and not only does it work for the ears, my helmet stays put--regardless of speed. It's worth a try.

If it's coming off, it's not tied down tight enough. Tie down a bit harder.

The first half helmet I bought did the same thing. When I replaced it, I found that it was one size too big for me. If that's the case, no matter how tight you pull down, it'll keep coming off.

Now that I have the correct size helmet for me, it stays put much better. I can still feel it pulling on my head, however, IF I don't have my windshield on the bike.

I use an NXT half-helmet, and it never wants to float. A great lightweight, low-profile DOT lid.

Cheers!

I've got two that I wear. The chrome is obviously a novelty, offers very little protection except for scalp sunburn. The black is a dot helmet I bought from Harley. The spikes were added for fun. Neither has a problem with wind lift. I've seen people with 1/2 lids wearing them like a cap, too far back on their head. Make sure it fits properly

Oh, don't have a windshield either.

Buy a DOT Carbon Fiber helmet. Better than regular DOT, smaller and will not break your neck in teh wind or in an accident. Heavy DOTs will snap your neck in many accidents.

Check out these folks. http://carbonfiberhelmets.com/dot.htm They cost $175 and are worth every penny.

Hopefully you can stay away from the terrible windshield curse that ruins the look of your bike as you obvious realize.
