Magnetic tank map bags ? Who has one?
I found that I'd really like to get something to hold a map/poker run directions the hard way yesterday. The problem is, I have a tank pouch on the bike already. I was hoping someone could recommend a system where it is large enough to lay over the existing bag, and still not fly off.
GPS was out of the quesiton yesterday unless I wanted to spend an hour programming the thing.
The first picture shows my existing tank pouch (which I can flatten out fairly well)

RE: Magnetic tank map bags ? Who has one?
I tried a tank bag with a clear map pouch and didn't care for it because it always seemed to be in the way, and I don't like looking away from the road long enough to read a map. If you only need it occasionally, you might consider using some small spring clips to clip the map to the inside of your windshield. I found some at a hardware store for about a quarter each that hold really tight. They resemble small metal clothes pins with plastic on the tips so that they don't scratch, and you don't have to look away from the road to see your map.

Thanks weasel. I want something temporary, and that may do the trick. I could probably clip the direction on my windshield bag with those.

My GPS is fine for point to point, but for poker runs it isn't. Perhaps your Zumo has better programming for pokerrunsthan my quest 2?

Tourmaster makes a tank bag that should work for you. Not sure you'll like the way it looks on the bike but it is practical. I've got a tourmaster that I use on my V-strom and a Wolfman strap tank bag that I use on my KLR, however when I tried the tourmaster on my E-glide I didn't like the looks of it and it didn't feel right either.

Tourmaster looks like they have too big of a bag for what I need. Or I just wasn't looking in the right place. I think I'll try the clips first and see if that does the trick. Thanks for the info though.

Here's a pic of me riding with a Rapid Transit tank bag. It's magnetic and has a map pocket. The rain cover even has a window so you can see the map with the cover installed.
As far as GPS, I have a Magellan Maestro 3200 and it took me all of ten minutes to figure it out and a minute or so to input the address for my destination. I imagine planning a trip is harder, but I haven't done that.

You know what? I was thinking about this a while back.
Why no grab one of those armband looking things that QB's use in football games? Then you wouldn't risk marking up your tank with the magnets?
I've never went-out and looked for one, but for seeing them on TV you could prolly take a map page & fold it to fit.
Just an idea.

I saw one of those T-Bags magnetic tank Map bags at the Motorcycle Show. Its FLAT like an envelope and only holds paper, and I think it had 3 magnets on each side. They had it on some SportBike as a demo with kind of a large raised section of the tankwith the gas cap, anyhow it looked like it would fit over the tank bib securely, but it certainly wouldn't lay flat, but I think it would fit. What I'm trying to say it laid curved on sport bike tank and seemed to still be doing the joband it'd probablywork nice enough for poker runs. This one was probably close to 8-1/2 by 11 in size.
