Windshield or Not....That is the question????

RE: Windshield or Not....That is the question????
Personally I hate the things. However, if I were to travel the Interstate I would put my trimmed down screen on. Thankfully, I rarely get on the Interstate. I hate them more than I hate windshields, which I think are for gages. I always take the back roads, sans plexigalss.

I wear a full face helmet, <snipped>
I prefer riding without a windshield as Ienjoy the open view ahead opposed to the barrier in my view. <snipped>

Isn't a full faced nothing more then a large helmet with a windshield attached to your face?

RE: Windshield or Not....That is the question????
Never have had anything happen on a bike like that. But in my brand new Lexus 2 years ago, I'm in the HOV lane when a semi blew a tire next to me. The tire came flying back and hit the front of my Lexus hard. It got a bunch of little scratches from the metal inside the tire fragment and a nice black mark that scrubbed out eventually. Had I been on my bike this could have been ugly.
That said, if I'm going to go on the freeway, I use my windshield everytime. Lately with it warming up, just around town I have had it off....tho I must admit, it's a lot more comfortable with it on....even in town.

I've never had a windshield (except on my ST1300...and I even lowered that) and can't get comfortable riding with one, but Icertainly appreciatethe benefits of having one.

In Illinois we have two seasons, Winter and Road construction. The small rocks kill ya. Windshield? ALWAYS!!!
I must agree I always keep my quick detach on the bike, only off for cleaning.
Later,
Joe
