what is everyone's view on lane splitting?
Just curious. It is not something that I do even romotely regularly, but there were a couple times when I lived in Jersey that I had a choice to either lane split or over heat. and once in Tampa when I had thet choice to either lane split or **** myself. I opted for lane split. Some states are starting to allow lane spitting for bikes in certain situations. maybe someone out there has more info on the legality on this. so, what is everyone out there's view on this?

We always talk about watching out for the other driver to make unexpected moves. Splitting lanes puts us in the worst position for when a driver makes that unexpected move. Even if traffic is at a standstill, it is still increasing the danger and risk, as that is when people tend to open a door to get out to see what the hold up is. Not worth the chance.

What is the point of having a bike and sitting in traffic sucking fumes when you can keep moving. I was on a cross country trip not long ago, I am from UK were most of us bikers use the middle of lane and the overtaking lane to get through traffice, i left my wife in an hotel in La and shot down to San Diego for the day, not taking into account California traffice I got there in a few hours, but got wound up in real bad traffic comming back, I decided to filter , well them boys did not like it, there was a lot of horn blowing and fingers going, I had the impression that they took a dim view of it, or was it the fact that I was moving and they were stuck . Took me three hours to get back, if I had sat in that traffic my wife would have bin verry worried cause I told her I would be four or five hours.
