A good friend of mines Dad , God rest his soul , always called them bicycles . And do in miss that term . He'd say I see you got a fine bicycle there .

Mine calls my bike "pretty" [:@] Really bothers me when I think it is "manly"

 

like the song says "if you don't ride you don't know" great tune

 

Mike, I get funny looks all the time also. I don't even have to say anything.

I've started calling crotch-rockets "cute scoots". The riders get upset about it until they see my scooter or moped (depends how I feel that day). Funny how those guys seem to feel some association with the V-rods.

 

Aactually Schumacher, I was asking in an effort to find a diplomatic way to explain to them why I call it a scooter without coming off as pretentious.

I know they're rubs and have no problem with that. But, when they ask, or give me a funny look, I would like to be able to explain it in such a way so as to not make them think I beleive I a Biker God of sorts. Make sense?

I do wear short pants and birkenstocks from time to time. But I rarely call my bike a scooter when I do. I expect those people to have no clue what I'm talking about.

It's actually when I'm around other people who fancy themselves bikers that when the odd looks are the issue.
