A chew of tobacco taped on top of the sting works. I learned that from my dad and it works.

Just remember, don't pull the stinger out. You'll just squeeze morevenom into your wound. Take a credit card or drivers license and scrape it out.

Somebody told me putting a penny on the area will help with the pain (interaction with copper?), probably an old wives tale but just thought I'd throw that in.

It might sound odd but mud is a great remedy in a pinch. Do a google search, you'll find plenty on this topic but when we were kids, mud was the best.

+1 for the Benadryl. They also have a desolving strip (like the breath fresheners). I am a honey bee keeper and swell up badly when bit. The Benedryl strips work the *****. I also carry an epi pen for any major problems. And always scrape the stinger out not squeezing it.

What my family has used for generations is a bread crust soaked in milk or heavy cream and then applied as a poultice. Taking an antihystamine such as Benadryl will help as well.
