How are you supposed to get a motorcycle endorsement on your license without a bike?

RE: No License no Bike. Is this True?
So far don't have to prove it in CA but it wouldn't surprise me. Wonder if they would go by cc's or if they would make you trailer it home? I bought my 650 then got my permit.
Some cc's don't require a valid license (small bikes the little kids ride off-road) some require another grade...I have a an M1 (for all motorcycles) but if I were riding a moped or a scooter I would only need a class M2 (I think its anything under 149 cc) license. So if I walk into a shop to buy a Harley with an class M2 license can they sell it to me?
Oh and as a parent of someone under 18 that rides the bike would have to be in my name but it does not mean I ride the bike nor does it mean I need and endorsement.
Could get very complicated.
Lots of folks ride without a Motorcycle endorsement. Bad idea for getting stopped or even insurance purposes. Hubby did it until I forced him to get his license.

Isn't a learners permit an endorsement? Don't need a bike to get a permit and in KY, the permits are good for 2 yrs. That's why a lot of people here play the permit game, some LEOs.

Bluerose, I think it's a matter of registration really
parent could plop down 10G for the kids bike, but whoever's name it's registered under needs the endorsement regardless of who's gonna be riding it...If therider (kid)is then caught riding without an endorsement then there is a problem.

That won't work in Washington State -- the Riders Edge course doesn't get you the waiver, only the MSF will. However, you can get a Learner Permit with just the written, which is good for 90 days & is renewable once. At this time, you also don't need a license to register the bike with the State (yet).

Rider's Edge course at the Harley dealer. They provide the bikes and give you a certificate, upon graduation, to take to your DMV office for your endorsement.

Apparently ABATE got them to push this back to July in an effort to get the Legislature to put a cap on what instructors can charge for the safety course. There's also another new law thatwas supposed to have been passed that requires riders under 21 to display a special tag so LEO's know that they are under 21 and that Florida's helmet law applies to them. Currently if you're under 21 in Florida you have to wear a helmet. I haven't seen these plates on the road yet, have any of the other Florida members seen these?

Florida will soon begin requiring everyone who wants a motorcycle endorsement to take an MSF course. The state will no longer give the examinations. If you already have the endorsement, you don't need the class to renew.
I kind of like the idea of having everyone take the course, but at $200+ they're going to need to do something to lower the cost.
It seems for the vast majority of us, $200 is no big deal. I mean Harleys are expensive, so what's another $225 on top of the price of the bike?
But consider some poor chap who scrapes up allhis dimes to buy some cheap bike for under a grand... he might have a problem coming up with the extra dough.
