ive been considering other bars. i got the black 12s from HD cus they were only 59bucks and drilled em out... not really apes but i want 16 inch gimps real bad. jus cant afford em and the wiring right now.. ive seen a few dynas with drag bars and tall risers , i like the look and i bet it handles great but iono i think i should go with my first choice.

Had 18" on my Springer. After the heart attack, my hands would go numb after a while so I replaced them with 12". Put my hands just below my shoulders, no more circulation problems. Since then sold the Springer and got an '03Wide Glide, don't know how high their 'mini apes' are, but comfortable. Now I have an '08 E-Glide with with stock bars. Going to ridewith them a while and see if I can get used to them.

I should change my screen name to "imadumbass" .........

Short version;

'07 Night Train. Drag bars ok....... Apes look good. Change to 16" apes/longer cables/wires in.

Almost a year goes by. .......... Numb hands etc..... Drag bars looking good again

Change back to stock bars and risers. Add winshield.

Bike just doesn't look "right" to me anymore. Wife complains that I can't lean back against her anymore

....... Sigh .... 16's back on with associated cables and wiring + new grips & different mirrors.

Still get numb hands ---- but I have a sweet backrest too

Aaarghhhh!!!

Peace

............. Jim

are you aware that it is possible to find bars that are a happy medium between drag bars and 16" apes?

That's what I was thinking...why not try 12's or 14's, if your hands go numb riding with 16's? I understand the backrest part though!

ok - I maybe dumb but I'm not stupid (I think)

Yeah I know that there are different options between the apes and the drag bars.

The point is that I had it right the 1st time - then I had to go and goof around with things ......

The numb hands aren't that big a deal .....

I like it the way it is.

Peace.....

............... Jim
