RE: Stupid primary question
My 02 and 05 Dynashave an inspection plate, I drain the oil, put the drain plug in, pull the insp. cover off, put oil in, cover back on, then ride. The cover disappeared when the primary chain self adjuster came out from HD. Schedule your oil changes with clutch adjustments (at room temps) and get in there just once.

RE: Stupid primary question
I always check my primary chain when I change the primary oil, so I use that hole to replace pri. lube. Watch thru the derby cover for proper amount. Works like a charm for me.

I mean, why no fill hole in the cover?
Why have a fill seperate fill hole when you are supposed to fill the primary case to a certain location on the clutch basket? You are supposed to remove the derby cover anyway to determine that level. duh

RE: Stupid primary question
Since the proper level is 32 oz according to specs (talking about a change)I don't see why they don't have a fill hole. Too many stories about screws stripping and bad gaskets, could be avoided.

RE: Stupid primary question
On pre 06 bikes (dynas and some others) the primary chain required periodic inspection for stretch wear and adjustment if needed. This was done thru the small inspection plate the earlier bikes had. With the appearance of the automatic primary chain adjuster this bit of work went away and so did the insp. cover. BY the BY not all models take the full one quart of oil in the primary, some took only 26 ozs. A lot of people read these boards and take information for gospel then they ask why is my clutch not working properly. So how many traffic lights are there in Middleburg now?
