RE: Any tips on pulling a wheelie on a touring bike?
there's lots of vids on youtube of guys wheelieng baggers. if you can get traction its not too tough, girl on the back helps a lot. the wheelie itself isnt any harder on the bike than a burnout or an aggressive launch but if you don't bring it down smooth you're stressing the frame, steering head, forks...

your post is assinine bud.....people like different things ... some of us like big power.....many of us on the bagger forum have forged great friendships doing build parties and we like wheelies....PhilM has got his pic in a mag doin a wheelie....now to answer the original question.....first have some power, not stage I or II moco power but some good aftermarket power....then gearing will help, like the 3.37 change or a baker dd6....revvin it up and dumpin the clutch will only smoke the tire...wheelie is technique....rollin in 1st or 2nd(if you really have power) up to 3k, settle back in the seat(get the weight rearward).....whack the throttle while choppin on the clutch....it'l usually come up...then you can power up to ride it or just let it pop up and gently come down....a rollin hit will usually get it up far better than a rev/dump....the more power your bike makes the better wheelie you'll do...pullin wheelies is not dangerous unless you do it at the wrong time and the wrong place....most of us who CAN pull em, can also actually RIDE our bikes..for all you dissenters, go buy some overpriced doodad made in china and post on assless chaps, otay

Why the hell anyone would want to abuse their $20K machine by doing a wheelie is beyond me.

Back when I was a kid I could ride one all day on my Yamaha 250. It has been a long time and many pounds ago since then. I don't think "Ol Blue" would ever stand on one wheel for me. But then again I won't ever try. For those that can and do...More power to ya.

Thanks for saying that BryanTTM! I can't believe that even with PhilM's picture all over this site, there are still so many naysayers. I want to get my softy off the ground if even only a few inches.

You need to get a fat chick to sit backwards her feet will stop you from going over, and she needs titanium soaled shoes... at night it will generate a lot of cool sparks!!!
