I have a tool kit that will take care of most emergencies, oil filterwrench,a flashlight, spark plugs, rainsuit and sweat shirt, gloves, and a S&W .40.

Rainsuit. Phillips screwdriver. Extra turn signal bulb. Bungee cords. Cargo net. Glasses case for whichever pair I'm not wearing at the time. Air gauge.

Left Bag: Tool Kit, the liner to my leather jacket, winter gloves, cold weather face mask, and a Cobra Links bike lock.
Right Bag (the easy one to get to): Dark glasses, clear glasses, sun screen, fingerless gloves, ball cap, misc CDs, envelope with registration / insurance papers, a small bottle of hand sanitizer, a bottle of water, a small bag of chips and some Slim Jims for snacks, and a $5 or $10 bill for emergency gas money.
The Glock .45 stays on me. You might as well leave it at home if you're going to leave it in a saddlebag where you can't get to it quickly if you need it.

I'm surprised at how many keep a gun in their bags.
Mind me, I'd bring a gun with me at all times myself if the law of the Soviet Socialist Republic of Italy would allow that.
What leaves me wondering is: why in the bags?
I'd keep the gun on myself, so it's at hand if needed.
