Working on a '86 FLHTC and need to know the number of turns out from being seated the Idle Mixture Screw (on top of carb) should be set at. This is not the CV carb, I think it's simply referred to as the butterfly valve style.

 

get the bike good and warm. then turn the needle out untill the motor starts to run rough. then turn it in untill it starts to run rough. turn the needle half way between the two or where the engine speed is the highest. then adjust the idle from there. i run mine at about 1000 rpm. the number of turns out to get started? i don't know that but maybe start at 1.5-2 turns out.
