I know this isn'ta HD, but it's what2 buddies and I are currently working on. not sure if you would call this a bobber or a chopper, got some of each in it... don't really care either, as long as we like it...lol.

Honda 750 power plant? If so, there were "bunches" of those running around in the late 70's early 80's. FASTER than f*ck, they are. Hit Craigslist for Mpls/St Paul, there always seems to be one or two ol' Honda chops onthere.
Also, if it is a Honda, check these guys out:http://www.cyclexchange.net/index.html
They have and make some COOL chit.
Never matter minded me, what someone else rode, as long as they liked it. I've owned Hondas (have a 750 Nighthawk in the grudge right now), Limeys, Kawis, even had a Moto Guzzi one time. I have had HD's since 74, stick with them cuz my Dad was a Harley man in the 30's and 40's.
Good luck with the project. DeJavu has been 'round chops a lot, too. So, keep checking in as you go. There are a couple other guys round here, just not quite so "visible". "Closet chopper fans"
yeah, this thing started life as a 1973 SOHC 750.The Amenframe was done sometime later onand I'm not sure it ever was all the way together after that. we are reworking it now to be what we want. we found CycleX when we started looking for stuff, and they have already been a big help in finding some of the parts we needed, also the folks at hondachopper.com, good bunch of folks there too, just like here.our original plan was to scrounge parts from swap meets and do it that way, but we just didn't have the luxury of time to wait for all the swapmeets to happen around us. as a result, we have shopped a lot for used parts on ebay and(the world's biggest swapmeet...lol) and wherever else we could find them. try finding a #3 intake manifold, oil lines, a carb bowl or those special spokes to lace a 16" HD rim to a honda hub, allfor a 35 year old honda...man if it hadn't been for the 'net as a resource I don't know where we woulda looked.we just about have it done enough now that we are going to try to fire it up on saturday, right now wedon't even know ifwe have a working motor or not... once we get that out of the way, it should just be some little PITA things to finish it up as we have most of the big stuff done and getting down to the little details.then we can tear it back apart, finish cutting off all the crap we don't need, grind our ugly *** welds (hey but they hold!) and get some kind of paint on it.

Hey Gump - little update, with any luck we may be test riding this thing tonight. Here is a recent pic, minus the electrics we did last Sunday. Paint job is true homebrew, Rustoleum rattlecan, black and copper hammered finish...

Love it! The inset on the tank is beautiful, nice frame, I think you may need carbs to get it started though.

Thanx 4 the update, Steve. Coming 2 gether right fine!!!!! I'm with DeJa, nice inset.
Just FYI - there are 4 Honda chops on Mpls Craigslist, all from the 70's. They are starting to come back out of the woodwork.
In fact, there were a couple at the Donnie Smith Show in St Paul. One was a copper metalflake ( the BIG flake from the 70's. ) with tan and yellow outlining the white 'lace' paint on tank sides and fender top. Just screamed 1970!!!! Completely molded frame, tank, and fender.

My "3.2" gal sporty only had 2.0 gal usable(80 mi/4-5 mi reserve), am putting a stretched sporty tank(a WCC) on that should give me 3+ gal, not much more.Don't think my *** can handle much more than 100 mi between smoke breaks.

yeah its amazing, this was all new to me, I barely knew these things existed. but once we got into it, we find there are lots of them out there. maybe us old farts are bringing them back to relive our youth...lol. doing this one gave me the confidence I needed and has me thinking about getting an oldHDto redo.

Where the hell you get that swing arm? I've been looking for years to get my hands on one. Bike looks good!

Man, I love the old school stuff. Then again, I seem to be stuck in the 70's with no desire to get out! You guys have some good responces on here and I can tell you've been around. I don't like the new customs so much either. At first they were cool but after about 10 years of seeing the same style, I'm sick of it. Tribal flames, long tanks, spears, b a r b e d wire, etc I could puke!

I do like the rat rod (I a hot rod guy too) and bobber revival. Here is a little bike I'm building. I call it a bar hopper 'cause it isn't really a chopper or a bobber. It's going to have a solo seat and no back fender or a small fender mounted to the swing arm.
