Lot more practical than chaps , got leather where you need it the most . I've got a pair of chaps ( Xmas present ) that seldom see any use . No protection inthe seat if you go down and from past practice I know you need it there the most ! And they definately don't keep " the BOYS " any warmer as there is no leather there either unless you got a real hangy issue !

These pants look good and pretty cheap too , think I'll order a pair , could stand to be warmer in my winter riding .

 

When I went down, my road rash was mostly on the knees and hips, not the butt. Chaps would have helped me a lot, but overpants wouldn't have added much protection beyond the chaps. I can't see wearing overpants in the southwest in the summertime unless they're vented somehow. I now havea pair of regular leather pants that Iwearwith long undies in the winter. In thesummerI wear chaps if it isn't too hot.

 

I bought a pair of leather overpants from Jafrum last fall for about $60 and they are good quality and pretty heavy leather . How many years will they last , who knows but the price was right .

 

Rick,did you ever squeeze a concord grape? That's probably what "leather underpants" would do!!! OUCH!!!

 

I use a pair of handmade deerskin gloves from Chilhowee. I wouldn't say the quality is "great", but it's certainly good. Their service is very good, as well.

In the winter I wear leather pants over my jeans. Comfortable and really warm with longjohns!
