Does anyone know the DB level of the Harley Premium horn compared to the standard horn?
I realize that the Stebel horn is 139DB and claims that it can be heard from 2 blocks away but I'm concerned that this will be way too loud and am looking for something louder than the stock horn, but not obnoxiously loud.
Also would like something with a similar tone to the stock horn, only louder of course. Trying to stay away from one that is high-pitched, schrill and screaching. Any suggestions?

I've read on some MC sites that the loudness of the horn is limited by the AMPS getting there. They tested a bunch of horns, directly connected to the battery and got loud results, but when they connected to some bikes that have quite a bit of wiring between the battery, switch on the bars, and back the horn they lost a lot of DBs. My bro bought some powerfull "Highway Blaster" or something like that and connected it to his FatBoy and it didn't sound any better than the stock horn. We did some research and discovered you need a relay to get the true potential

My other fear is I DON'T want a "metric sound", you know the type of "MEEP BEEP". Like the the road runner. Has anyone had any luck with the Stebel Nautilus?

I just recently heard a horn on a pickup truck that sounded like the horns of deisel locomotives that pull trains! That sucker will get someone's attention.
My first thought when I heard it was, "I wonder if that would work on my Harley?"

I just put a Stebel Nautilus on my dads bike i bought it for him for xmas, I tell you one thing that is one loud *** horn. Sounds good though.

Here is the key to your battery issue that your talking about. These horns that draw extra amps should be hooked up to the battery using a relay on there own line.

Basically your using your existing horn wiring to trigger the relay and the relay feeds power directly from the battery to the new horn full power full loud horn and protects your other wiring and equipment.

This is what i bought him and where i bought it there is a link to hear the horn on this page now imagin that sound but a hell of alot louder than the link. http://www.bikerhiway.com/motorcycle...-black-74.html

You can also go to napa and pick up a horn that will fit right in your cow bell that is 132db so its all in what you want.

I bought a chrome bad boy from northern hydraulic.. It uses the stock wiring to fire a relay which get s its power from the battery directly. It is loud !!! Made an old lady change lanes on the interstate when i blew it. Hse's still looking for the semi. $69 + tax
