I usa an Olympia mesh jacket. While it is warmer in town riding than a T-shirt its actually cooler on the road. I've tried it on tripw when its very hot out. Ride with it for awhile then take it off and ride in just a T-shirt with the sum beanting down on your arms...put the jacket back on and you will feel cooler. Fact is when its 90+ out you are going to be hot, no matter how you dress.

Mesh jackets in silver. Black may look better but it absorbs heat in the sun.
I have a Olympia, a First Gear, and just got a Joe Rocket (took the labels off). The Olympia is by far the best but costs $200. You can get a basic jacket from Joe Rocket, First Gear, etc foraround $120 over the Internet. All have removable liners for rain and cool mornings.

I used a Siver Eagle Cooling Vest during my trip up to Niagara Falls from Birmingham, AL. It worked very well. Here is their contact information: http://www.silvereagleoutfitters.com/shop/vests.htm

Try one of the mesh jackets...you will be suprised. That is if you are on the road..around town (slow traffic) it is cooler in a T-shirt but I don't do much of that. If not that then just a long sleeved T- shirt is better than a short sleeve. Anything to keep the sun off you is cooler than a T-shirt.....did that for years then tried covering up and guess what...it is better. You don't often see people in the desert in T-shirts...and there is a reason why.

+3....make it a 100% cotton and it will channel moisture away and keep you cool. No diff to having just a T-shirt on vs T-shirt with Mesh jacket.
