RE: Embarressing moments
About 30 years ago I was at the gas pumps on my Suzuki GS750. Front tire was sitting in some oil which I did'nt notice. Took off from the pumps letting my feet drag using front brake only to stop at the station exit. Thought I was pretty cool till the front wheel locked, front end crossed up and I hit the ground like a wet bag of cement. Not too much damage to me or the 750, but I think the station attendant wet his pants.

OK fess up, what kind of stupid stunt did you do that caused you to drop your bike ?

Quick tip, if you do get pulled over, don't put down the jiffy stand and then attempt to get off the right side of the bike. 'Nuff said.

Dropped all of my bikes in various scenarios....both dirt and road. Currently replacing a tank on the dirt bike due to dropping it on rock ledge to many times. Wasn't going to let the trail win.

It was 1975 on my 1st bike, Yammy 500. After visiting friends one summer evening, I was leaving their apartment (I had parked in front of their door, not in the parking lot), I was going down a dew filled grassy hill down to the parking lot and hit the front brake. PLOP. Fortunately, I was the only one laughing at myself.

RE: Embarressing moments
Within the first year of my riding "career"; a buddy, who rode a Gold Wing, convinced me to go for a ride on a clear, but EXTREMELY brisk February day. I had a 500 Shadow, without even a teardrop windshield. (and no real 'cold weather' riding gear...) A few blocks in to the ride, I was starting to develop hypothermia, so did a 'U-eey' at an intersection, and headed for home at a high rate of speed. The theory being the faster I rode, the quicker I'd be inside where it was warm. Took a turnoff toward where I lived, hit some loose gravel, and went down. I was extremely lucky...I flipped off my bike and hit the curb face down, only bruising my kneecap. Somehow my bike landed in such a way that my handlebar was bent on one side, there was a small (and hardly noticeable) scratch on the underside of the gas tank, and the highway peg was spun around to the inside of the engine guard. A few hardy tugs later, and the handlebar was straightened out. Got on the bike, rode it home, got inside, and warmed myself with several shots!

When I was 16 on a 79 Yamaha 650 Special. I spotted a couple older women (18) and thought I would impress them by doing a donut in the grass. Didn't work out exactly that way and the bike landed on me. Nothing hurt 'cept my pride. They were laughin' and I left with my tail between my legs.

Laughter is the best medecine for the soul.... I am healed !!! [sm=happy046.gif]
Took the bike out for my maiden ride and to show it off to some friends.
I tried to turn the bike around on a gravel drive with a slope and had the handle bars turned too far to the right and I just couldn't hold it.
I knew I was in trouble when I was sideways across the drive and my only option was to drive up a grassy hill or turn hard and try to not spin out in the gravel... [sm=smiley5.gif]
The bike is fine, even though Istarined my thumb somehow. I think my ego took the biggest hit, butmy friendsassured me that they have dropped their rides many times in the past and its not a big thing. Sure it was easy for them to say... this is the nicest bike I've ever owned and I laid it down on my first ride... [:@]
Ipromise you I won't be doing that again...
