I know what you mean. It certainly gets your curiousity hanging out. If you don't ride it for a year or two how do you know if you have a good one? I had a BMW that someone traded in early and it was the only model I didn't see for sale in the BMW club magazine for the 4 years I owned it. Sold it and bought a Harley 'cause my wife was more comfortable on the Harley and I was tired of seeing Beemer dealerships close. Bought an 2005 RG with 1291 miles on it last summer and now I sit and read about how Harley has screwed up the '06, '07 and '08 models. Maybe we are doing ok not having to trade every year. You have a good bike. Enjoy!

I just don't get it. I saved for almost 3 years to be able to by a 2 year old Harley RK. Together my wife and myself have a way above average income. I pay all my bills, spoil my kids, and manage to religiously save money. What I don't get is how so many people on here buy a new 07 Harley and then for whatever reason, get rid of it and buy an 08. I've even seen threads by people that bought an 08 and now want a different 08. Am I doing something wrong? How can someone keep trading in bikes without building up a lot of negative equity? And why would anyone buy a bike for $15,000 + and then a few months later decide they don't like it anymore?

I know what others do is none of my business but if I'm missing something, I want to know. I love my hard earned Harley RK and bought it (after much research) with every intention of keeping it for a long time but is there a way to trade continuiouly without ending up with a $700 a month payment on a Sportster because of all the neg. equity? Is there anyone here that wishes they didn't trade their new bike on a newer bike?
1. Some folks don't have to save for 3 years to pay cash for a bike.

2. Some folks like riding something new every year (or less).

3. Some folks like changing models even within the same year.

4. Do ALL your spending habits/financial decisions make sense to everyone? Should they?

5. People do these types of things fortwo simple reasons: Because they can and want to.

6. Ride. Be safe. And don't worry about what everyone else out there is doing. To each his/her own.

I've seen the same thing happen with people buying cars, boats, etc. To each his own.

There are some wealthy people who ride Harleys. Just a fact.

I'm just happy to have mine. At these prices and economy, I'm just happy to have mine.

Why do I do it? Because I can and I want to. Since 1962 I have had 80 new autos/trucks, 22 mc's , 12 boats, 4 camping trailers. Always had 100% equity when I took them from the dealer. Lost of fortune in depreciation. So what? Would it be more fun to have all that $ in the bank and drive an 82 caviler? Then die. On my tombstone they can write wooohoo.

Heck, I'm thinking about downgrading from my 06 Street Glide to an 08 Fat Bob. I love my Glide, but I sure do miss the versatility of my old FXRS.

Rotti,

My Uncle still has his 84 last of the Shovels. Maybe me and my brother should pool our money and get him a new ride...
