A friend of mine just passed away and his wife is left with his '93 883. I don't know much about it other than it has 7K miles, a custom kit and I thought it was some sort of aniversary edition or something (think there is an eagle on the gas tank that he said was special). Anyway, she want to sell it and has no idea how much to ask. It is in pretty good condition and has been well maintained. Thanks.

The last one is an "ironhead", but threw it in for a comparison.
Another suggestion, go to Cycletrader.com, and punch in the info, browse them and just see what they are getting/asking in your area. Unfortunately, if you are selling, it is a buyer's market right now. Prices are down, at least in our area.
Terribly sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. Was he a riding buddy? That makes it even more difficult for me. God Bless and God speed.

Thanks for the help. I do not have a Harley so we never rode. He was a mechanic and I am into cars - he was a very talented man with incredible intellegence and a great sense of humor.

 

In 2005 I sold a very clean1997 883 with 10k on it for $4800. You might check ebay completed listings to see if they have anything of that vintage. Kelley Blue Book says about $3300 for dealer retail. She would probably have to go a little under that unless she gets lucky.

 

My dealer just sold a mint 2005 883 with 1700 miles for $3995. MSRP on a 2008 is only $6695.

 

With the market flooded with newer used bikes I'd suggest that she takes the first offer over 3k.

 

Do not let other's comments about a soft market influence you. The only market that counts is the one where you are. I know around where I am used bikes (Harleys)are not going cheap.
