Let's see now...who markets ethanol? That's right, the OIL companies! T
Who the **** told you that?? Oil companies most certainly do not market ethanol. That's the dumbest statement I've heard / read in a long time. Jesus palimino pal, get a fooking clue. It's easy to hate the oil companies right now because gas costs a lot. But, the answer to high gas prices is not in creating a "need" for ethanol where it does not exist. Taxing the **** out of people to pay the premium on it so you can sell it cheap at the pump and tell a bunch of people their getting a bargain.

The answer to high gas prices is not to add taxes to gas. If you add a surcharge to the price of gas, $2.89 locally now, and it goes to $3.15 how does that help you??

The answer to the oil companies pissing you off by making high profits is to buy oil stock and share in the profits!!
You want lower prices at the pump? Then make it cheaper and easier to get oil! Remove the prohibitions on drilling where we have our own oil. Remove the extra taxes on it. Build more damn refineries so we can produce more oil for the market needs. We have plenty of crude oil. But you don't burn crude in your HD, Ford, Chevy, Dodge, kids go-kart you get the idea. The reason for high prices is because of the limits we put on production, and taxes and political unrest where the world gets most of it's oil. Even though we don't get much from certain middle eastern countries, many other parts of the world do. Then, when that supply becomes threatened, they tap into where we get ours, and the prices rise through demand needs going higher. Stop listening to people who are political pundits and actually do a little studying and learn how things ( the economy for example ) work! Emotional unrest because of high gas prices are unproductive. Noname

Here in the Midwest, there is no choice. ALL gas is 10% ethanol.

If ethanol was truley a good alternative to oil, the free market would support it. But the market does not support it, government supports it. Government is not wise at spending money.
Agree. How many of us here remember "Gasohol"? We've been down this road before.
Better to work on hybrid and electric technology.
That's what gasohol is, 90% gas 10% ethanol. Another problem with ethanol is that it evaoprates! While it's in your tank, and in your carbs, and in your fuel injectors. It leaves behind a hard dirty varnish. If you drive every day, or every other day or so, you'll be OK. If you have a larger bike, or engine, you'll probably be ok. But, my ex had a 600 that had to have constant maintenance because of ethanol evaporating and clogging up the small jets in her carbs. Noname

Noname..where have you seen ethanol being sold at a public outlet by ANYONE ther than the oil companies. I'm not saying ethanol is good or bad, but until there is an alternate method of delivery for ANY alternative fuel, it will be controlled by big oil. As for buying some oil stock, I did just that. I don't hate big oil, I hate big government. I'm not too fond of people who can't conduct CIVIL discourse, however.

I have to disagree with you on this one. Ethanol is in it's early stages here in the US but Brazil is using it like crazy and is totally independant of imported oil now because of Ethanol. The more I learn about Ethanol, the more I like it. The more I learn about the people we are importing oil from, the more I dislike oil. I'd much rather support American farmers and American truck drivers than who we are supporting now. Hopefully Ethanol will get better as the market expands and become more feasable.
Brazil uses sugar based Ethanol, not corn based. BIG difference.

Here along the Gulf Coast almost every station now has the little sign "NOTICE: Up to 10% ethanol..." So we've been running with it for a while. (Interesting that, here in Houston, the "oil meca of the U.S., is using something grown, not drilled...) While not a fan of the stuff, I'm experiencing an increase in gas mileage, not a decrease.... Hmmmmmm...

I haul gas to gas stations, that's my job, it's what I do. I also haul ethanol to the pipelines and refineries in the Minneapolis St. Paul area. Where we load our trucks for local delivery. It's blended at the point where the truck is loaded. It's done by government mandate. Not by Chevron, Hartland Petroleum Products or any other small, medium,or big oil company. It's then delievered to the gas stations and put into the stations tanks by me and my co-workers. Again, this is done by government mandate, not the gas companies, not the refineries, but by federal and state mandates depending on the population of the local area and the time of year dictates are at least 7.5% up to 10% ethanol and the rest gas.

It's the same here in Arizona, all gas is 90/10 with ethanol. You also get less miles per gallon with ethanol and all this alternative fuel bullshit gets old after awhile. Also ethanol from corn isn'tnearly as good as ethanolproduced from sugar. There is no shortage of oil, only cheap oil. We should be drilling in Anwar in Alaska, but no, becausethe far left wing socialist environmental dumb asses don't want us drilling anywhere or building new refineries like in Kalifornia, and that's whereour main problem comes from. These global warming, green house gas, chicken little left wing idiots will do anything to have more government control over our lives. Elect Democrats and then you can really hold on to you wallets. OK that's enough ranting about the left wing socialist Democrats since it just raises my blood pressure. LOL

I put a corn burning stove in my new garage 4 years ago. Corn was $1.70-1.80 a bushel. 1 bushel heats the garage 1 day. This morning I paid $4.85 for that bushel of corn. But I would damn sure rather be giving my money to the farmer up the road than any of the oil producing countries.
