Reduced effort clutch

RE: Reduced effort clutch
Wife's first bike a 99 883 sportster, the clutch made grown men cry, most couldn't beleive she even attempted to ride it. Now my wife bought this bike 1. for the color (Red with lots of chrome), 2. without me. I bought the easy clutch and it did help some. It just wasn't enough for her while riding in town. End of the Story is I traded the bike back to the dealer for the same she paid for it forher 07 1200L. I wanted her to look at the Dyna Low Rider, but being a new rider, she thought the 1200L was best. She says she will now listen to me, YEAH RIGHT.

RE: Reduced effort clutch
I just got the reduced effort clutch. The clutch on my fatty really is stiff. I may have him oil the cable while he's at it to make it even slicker than the 40% reduction you get with the new spring kit. I read previous reports of transmission slippage at high speeds, 70-90. I spoke to my mechanic at Big Dogs about it and he said he hasn't heard of any problems with them. I wonder what the install time will be because I have to pay $100/hr for labor?

Hmm,
Interesting to see my post come up after all this time. I can now comment. The reduced effort is just that. Much improved.
HOWEVER.... it is really tough to find neutral now. Never was before. Took it back and they say its all good. Adjustment?
Not sure. Its been checked and its good. I think Im going to adjust it myself.

RE: Reduced effort clutch
Now that concerns me. Is it impossible to find neutral or does it just take so long to neutral that by the time you find it the light has turned green? Have you noticed any transmission slippage?

RE: Reduced effort clutch
No slippage that I have noticed. Neutral is sometimes a bitch to find. Used to be stop and slip it in. Now sometimes it works and sometimes I have to work for it. I have been coasting to the stop lights and slipping into N just while still rolling.
A pain in the ***, but not the worst.

RE: Reduced effort clutch
I had an EZ-Clutch put on my wife's 96 wide glide. Great - company's been around a long time.
Indy told me it doesn't reduce the clutch pressureand makeit slip. It changes the length of the lever down at the clutch to give better leverage.
Under $50 installed.
