Default GPS Question????

I've been looking at GPS's for about a month. I've been leaning towards a Zumo 450. Seems like a lot have the Zumo. I just saw an Iway 600 and like the idea of the built in FM modulator. And the price I found of $340. Can anyone tell me the good or bad about these. I know they had trouble with the 500's, but the 600s are suppose to be the better.

Zumo 450 or 550 is the model for bikes. There is a 500 but they are loaded with European maps. Take note of this when purchasing on line. The 600 series is not waterproof. If you're riding an Ultra you won't need a FM Modulator just a patch cord to connect to the Aux input on the radio.

A sandwich bag over the GPS in a pinch works also.

I orginally had the TomTom Rider but did not like the handle bar mount. I then went to the HD Conquest. Having all of the HD dealers preloaded was pretty cool as well as the web updater that Garmin has makes updating the GPS easy. There is a plug in to the AUX port on the HD radio so you can hear the instructions (if you want) on the radio. I prefer Garmin over all the rest as they are the "original" personal GPS manufacturers (so they say). The Conquest is dash mounted and is hard wired into the bikes electrical system. In my opinion it was worth the $$. Again, this is another personal preference - you have to like what you buy but buy right the first time.

HD's GPS is a Garmin Quest2only at way too inflated price $850 for theGPS and $70 for the fairing mount, that's $920. The quest2 can be bought for $500 and if you want a fairing mount that's $70 from the HD parts counter = $570 saving $350.

POIs with HD locations and many other places of interestsare free for the taking on the "POI Factory" web site.

Read the features - you get more then just the fairing mount. The quest did not do what I wanted and I knew that if I did but the lower end unit that I would be getting the Conquest eventually.
