Having trouble installing my SERT

Having trouble installing my SERT
I have a 2007 Dyna Street Bob. I purchased a SERT and attempted to load the tuning profile for the first time. No matter what I try I keep getting the same error message at 20% install, “ECM has denied access for the update”. What do I need to do that I am not?

I purchased the tuner from a local HD dealership new in a sealed box. Given the issue I was having, the dealership thought I might have a defective part to they replaced it with another new one also sealed in the box. When I initially loaded the program I selected "load ECM profile", then clicked on "Program ECM". It will run to 20% and then tell me the ECM has denied access and exit.

and your dealer said what whwen you told him that this was happening? I would think their service dept may have seen this error before. They should be able to tell you what the issue is. Good Luck!

They have been very good at trying to help me. I have tried everything their dyno tech has suggested, such as unpluging the ECM for one minute, closing the program and trying again, trying another MAP program, etc. I went to the dealership today and the tech looked at the list of MAP's and showed me the one he would use. It was the one I had selected. He said the tuning program is the one they use and the only thing they could do was to re-burn my ECM with another factory MAP and start over. Basically they did not know what to do besidesbring them my Bike and let them try ($325 estimate).

You running XP or Vista? Try re-installing the program on your computer. Like any program the firewall , antivirus might be blocking the install.

RE: Having trouble installing my SERT
There are many variables here that can be causing the problem. Since you've been given a new SERT, that pretty much eliminates that part.
The next thing I would check is your cable. Are you using the correct cable to interface over to the SERT? Ensure you are using the right cable and it's good.
Next, you may not have a laptop that is capable of running the program, or it may have a problem with the port, but I doubt the port is bad. Can you "borrow" a laptop from someone and give it a try?
Finally, if you are using a laptop that is running Windows "Vista" operating system, the SERT has not been certified to run on Vista and could be causing problems.
Just trouble shoot the problem "backwards" and eliminate things as you go.
There is always a possibility that the ECM is corrupted in some way. If that is the case, the warranty should be intact and take care of that.
