RE: why are Harleys so SLOWWWWWWWWW??
Hmmmm, I'm 275 and don't have to roll it on heavy to get out in front of the cages from a traffic light. Are you starting in second gear? Are you pulling a trailer? Are you carrying a passenger? Are both plugs firing? Are your tires flat? Are your brakes dragging?
Doe's the minivan have flames painted on the sides or a Number 3 on the door?

I have owned over 14 different bikes.though my current SG is not the fastest it sure isnt the slowest. My bike is now perfect for what I need it to do.It has good low end torque and even good across the entirecurve for that matter.Come to think of it my slowest bike I ever owned (NightHawk 450) was faster than most cars out there.

I know my sporster is quick off the line. Like someone else mentioned when I take off the line everyone else is only in the rearview. Anyways my uncle has a stock roadking and he says it is sluggish off the line and when my dad was shopping for a new one the dealer told him that they are slow off the line and that the 96" is worse than the 88" was. But the Roadking he got is really fast off the line. I can barely keep up with him.

I see that you are located in Scottsdale; GMR Performance is located in Prescott AZ which is not that far away and is well known on the forum as a very competent performance engine builder. Give them a call; I am pretty sure that they can dramatically improve your bikes performance. Of course high performance is not free, but the prices are competitive with other quality performance engine builders.

I think they are slow because they are built from a 19th century design for a narrow powerplant to fit in a bicycle frame.
I was astonished when I first opened the throttle on my hog. With all that noise coming out the exhaust you would think I'd been doing near 100mph by the time I went through the intersection from a green light but NO........my son has passed me and waiting at the next light by the time I get to second gear.
My '74 waterbuffalo was faster and it was a 750cc tank back then!
...but it's exactly what I want....AND what I need to keep me out of the hospital

I rented an RKC with a stock 88" motor last year, and had NO problem pulling away from traffic at lights. Just sayin...
Cheers!
