Would you believe? My paint is Satin black Rustoleum...we did a cheapo paint job in a hurry to cover up the pink paint that was on it...is holding up good, and we plan on redoing it with better paint later on...

There are several different shades of clear coat to put over black. Our RK has a Satin clear,it is awesome. It's like flat with a surface you can lay a wax job on with no gloss.

I should think the flat or matte is jsut as easy to keep clean as anything else. Just a little soap and water, but it the intent of the flat paint to wear and scuff to give an aged rat look over time?

ORIGINAL: Lundee

I've been seriously debating the rattle can approach. Fixed a few truck fenders and fender flairs that way. Just wondering about spilling gas on the tank? They make a 3 part kit called hot rod black thats only 60 clams. Or my other idea was to P/C the front and rear and just paint the tank because its the only thing that needs some serious bondo.
paint your tank and fenders with flat black engine paint

high temp, dries hard, and resists gas and oil

i use that crap to paint evreything.

but I painted my bike with standard spraypaint and it resists paint very well, i spilled some before the clearcoat and after and didnt have any problems.
