I give my engines between 2500 and 3000 miles before I go synthetic (Amsoil) but I'm old school that way. I've built enough engines (big and small block Chevys) that after tearing a couple apart when the rings didn't seat after using synthetic at 1k, I don't mind waiting another couple thousand to be sure.

I'm not saying that you are going to have problems if you do. I've had many friends who used the Syn3 at 1k and have had zero problems. It just makes me feel more warm and fuzzy waiting a little longer.

lapua: I have broken in and raced many air-cooled engines. I follow a policy of changing the original oil at approx. 500 miles with dino oil and then again at 1000 miles with a filter change. At 2500 miles I change to new filter and the synthetic of choice. That system has worked well for me. At 5000 miles I again do the full service filter and synthetic. After that I hit the normal every 5000 miles routine. BTW, at 1K the fluids get changed totally in the primary and the transmission with an 'or equal' to OEM. At 5K they get changed to synthetic. Works for me. ..................... BC

96cc?? I don't know anything about that motor but if you are talking about the 96 cubic inch motor, Ihave ranthe synthetic in mine since 1k service. It is my understanding synthetic oil does not break down it just gets contaminated. I run synthetic oil in all of my vehicles and will continue to do so.

I ran dino changed at 500 and added syn at 1000 changed again at 2500 synno problems todays metals used are better than in the past, I have read. If you break in properly you shoud seat the rings in the first 1000 miles if not earlier.
