It is personal choice...the handling will be about the same. The SG will give better wind protection but with the RK you can remove the shield for the wind in your face experience.

Both great bikes. If your going to be doing some serious Touring, you might enjoy some Tunes, which the SG has and the King does not.
I think the RK is the best looking of the Touring bikes, but I wouldn't give up my Bat Wing for anything

I love my Street Glide, dig the tunes, agree that batwing gives better wind protection, etc.
But, I have to admit that I think the Road King is the best looking bike on the road.

Road King.
Better protection on the street glide but sometimes I don't want anything between me and the wind and the removable w/s on the RK allows me that.
NO tunes on a RK?
Pffft. An el cheapo mp3 player with some comfortable ear-buds takes care of that so I don't even consider that an issue. Plus, I can use the mp3 player for more than just riding on my RK.

I prefer the Street Glide. My riding buddy prefers his Road King. We switch off from time to time and find both bikes fun to ride. My Glide handles a little better than his King probably due to being an inch lower in the rear but it's nice to be able to ditch the windshield and get a little wind on the face with his RK.
