They hold all the cards and know it. Their attiude is pay for the insurance or rent some place else. I'm sure part of it is they don't see why they should have to get involved with a third party insurance company, and all the hassles that go with it, when they can just make you take their insurance.

I've been out of the insurance claims business for a long time but auto policies always contained a "Drive Other Car" provision that covered you when you were operating a non-owned automobile. Double check with your agent to make sure it's on your 'motorcycle policy' and if it is, you have no need to take out any extra insurance. That also applies to automobile rentals. They love you to pay the premium as it is nothing but New Found money for them but it is not necessary for you to take it out.

The dealer just emailed me. He will be happy to accept my motorcycle policy and that is all. No need for any additional fees or insurance. He was very nice. I am ahappy camper!
