DO YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR ?
I'm probably crying more then anything but "Do we get what we pay for". I mean first off you buy a Harley and pay good money. But then when I started taking off parts I see some, not all but some parts aresuch junk ! An example, check out your seat or handle bars. In my case I can't even keep on the backrest with a different seat cause the side facing the seat isn't finished nicely FXSTC.
Then you order stuff thats aftermarket and is ANY of it worth it. I mean if you want chrome housings , Harley couple hundred bucks. Aftermarket anywhere from $35.00 to $75.00 and its a gamble. depending where you go to buy it you could get the $35.00 set for $75.00 or MAYBE the $75.00 set is different and worth it. Hell, chrome my black set. At least the threads may not pull out when you tighten it.
I've been in a parts manger from fire trucks to forklifts, I'll tell you this industry has the most parts ****** of all. Or how about buying something that "FITS" your bike and they forget to tell you to bring your hammer and chisel. I'm not saying some stuff isn't a deal, but in general all the freak'n people say "this stuff is good or that stuff is good" and most times its a disappointment. There may be deals on Ebay but there is also tooooooo much junk.
That said "Happy customizing".

If enough people felt that they were not getting thier moneies worth, the product would not sell, and changes in either quality, or price would happen.
Since so many people keep buying...I'd have to say that you are getting your monies worth, otherwise, you would not buy it.

Sorry , I disagree. Seem like one Co. goes cheap and the rest follow for a grand sum of junk at high prices and high profit. I purchased a clutch perch packaged "Drag Specialties" , junk. Or look at the nice dirt bike style pegs and grips on your new Harley. Oh I can get nice OEM grips for $65.00.
Look at your choices and you'll see 85% chromed pot metal, plastic or junk aluminum. I love my bike don't get me wrong. But in the 30 years of customizing and riding its an epidemic of junk out there. "O yeah that will fit YOUR year bike, sorry can't help you but you can return it". Grant it some of the HD bolt ons are good but a set of bars, housings, cables and misc at $1200.00 !!! Or settle for mostly imported junk and pretend its all good?? Just my two cents.

Yes..that's why I do not bother w/goodies?!?!?!?!? Only buy parts to maintain/repair, my personal way to not get burned. If it doesn't keep it running then I don't really even look at it. Bought currnet bike slightly used and sold all the "garbage" that the previous owner had put on it. His biggest gripe at time of sale was "not getting anything back on all the CRAP" he had installed.
Sold 90% on ebay and made the first payment out of selling the chrome goodies and cheap-*** accessories he had installed..Just my way, not knocking mods/chrome/etc..just not gonna fall prey to that b.s.

Quality always cost money.
And always buy from a reputable store and you will minimize your problems.
Personnally, i rarely have the problems you are desribing.

Just because is cheaper does not mean is good or better. As we all know some aftermarket companies have some very good quality but it is the exception not the rule.

The one thing you got that you didn't pay for..........Help from this FORUM.
Sombody on this FORUM has undoubtedly purchased the item you or I are thinking about buying, from the company we are thinking about buying it from.
ASK - and you shall receive. It's GREAT, post it and ask. Sure, ya get the BSers and the PAMs, but you also get some good insight.
As to the lame products out there, I have emailed co.s asking for the manufacturer of items such as brake rotors, if they give me the 'Gee, we don't know" answer, I'm gone, see ya. I try hard as I can to buy American, and I definitely want quality. Case in point - Just ordered new rotors for the FLH, found them on EBAY for $70 + s&h, but they couldn't tell me where they were made. I ended up atJ&P, ordered Russels for 140 a piece. They are MY brakes.
As to chrome doodads, it's potluck at best nowadays. There is so much "cheap" Chinese chroming going on, the American co.s that do it right, cannot compete with the ridiculously low priced, inferior quality chit on the market. The bitter taste of poor quality lasts much longer than the sweet taste of low price. JMFUO
